The Community Arts Space is supported by a generous grant from the Colac Otway Shire, auspiced by Creative Otways. Once established the Community Arts Space will be a hub for artists in our region providing advice and skills development. It will seek opportunities, collaborate with other groups in the area and continue to look outwards to ensure that its arts and culture are in dialogue with the rest of the Shire, Southwest Victoria and beyond. It will be an organisation that enriches the cultural life of our region through innovative, inclusive, consultative projects and programs.
The Makers Space aims –
- to have premises large enough in which to carry out group activities while also providing individuals with dedicated studio space.
- to engage and encourage the community to participate in the arts through demonstrations, exhibitions, special events and classes and workshops.
- to inspire and foster creativity as a positive and sustainable force that enriches our community and establishes the region as a premier arts destination.
- to support practices and technologies that will cover a broad range of interests.
- to be sustainable by exploring opportunities and facilitating best practice for financial management and support.
