August 1 @ 10:00 am - August 26 @ 4:00 pm

Views from the South

Paintings by Robyn Lake

 1 August  – 2 September  2018

Opening night Thursday 2 August  6pm-8pm

Robyn Lake has been drawing and scribbling for as long as she can remember and has been painting for the last 20 years. Although she has dabbled in oils, she mainly paints in acrylics.

Her bold, swirling painting style is suggestive of a restless energy. She enjoys painting landscapes, seascapes, the human figure and portraits.

Robyn frequently enters local art exhibitions and has had several successful solo exhibitions.

Robyn has lived and worked in the Warrnambool area for the past 20 years and finds inspiration in all aspects of the local environment.

For exhibition at The F Project Art Gallery, “Views from the South” Robyn has focused solely on the natural world. “This was a challenge at first” she said ‘but I gained momentum and was increasingly inspired by nature and the scenes of the South West. I have tried to capture the movement and energy of the ocean in my paintings.’

When asked about artists whose works inspire her, Robyn said that she admired the light and movement captured by Lloyd Rees and the fluidity and connectedness that John Olsen has in his paintings.

Robyn Lake’s exhibition of paintings “Views from the South” will be opened by local artist Glenn Morgan on Thursday 2 August 6pm-8pm.
