Description of Venue: Wishart Gallery delights in accentuating the relationships between the old and the new, curating contemporary Australian print-making, painting and sculpture alongside a wealth of antiquarian objects and furniture. With a cheeky tip-of-the-cap to local fishing history, you may find a ships ink-well displayed beside a modern pen-and-ink drawing, or a 300 year old Captain's chair beside a contemporary abstracted seascape.
The Gallery is housed in a grand two-story Victorian bank building in the main street of Port Fairy. Downstairs is a cosy bar and dining area, and outside is the Captain Henry Wishart bar; stone-fired pizzas are a house specialty, and al fresco dining is available in the lush garden.
Types of events which are run/held: Artworks are exhibited on rotation. Exhibitions on particular themes are held occasionally, and combine antiques with contemporary art responses.
