Phillip Ward

Current work on paper + board, predominantly thru A3 and A4 (and smaller) size using many mediums at once including but not limited to – collage, ink, gouache, acrylics, spraypaint, conte, charcoal, pen/pencil/graphite.

Abstract expressionism, anatomy, old public domain nude photography/french postcards, occasionally children’s stickers and the aforementioned materials are used to construct works (mostly) relating to the human condition, in both philosophical and psychological senses. Humanity provides endless subject matter and spans the gamut of emotions – the world around us is an endless well of influence. Attention paid to personal (mine and others) tragedy, love, mortality, the whole sex and death cliche.
