Joe Logan

Joe Logan has been working in papercraft for many years and as a bookbinder in recent years.  She produces work for luciandjoe, a business which has been selling books and associated paper products at markets and shops in the greater Western region.

When describing her approach to bookbinding, Joe says that is an adaption of traditional and improvisational techniques.  In creating upcycled books, she uses the vintage books that she’s sourced from library throw-out piles, tip shops and opp shops and creates a unique new book with their covers and pages.  It’s a labour of love in discovering an amazing illustration on the bookcloth cover that has been hidden under a protective slipcover for years.  Many of the old books have illustration plates, maps or photographs on their pages, and Joe saves and uses those in her books or the complementary range of cards that she makes.

luciandjoe regularly has market stalls in the region, and further afield in Geelong.

Joe holds workshops at the Julia Street Creative Space in beginner’s bookbinding, and specialty projects like making upcycled books.

Upcoming WORKSHOP: Upcycled book, Julia Street Creative Space on Saturday 13th September;  for more information see the post on luciandjoe’s facebook page, and register online here.
