Water and Country Art Exhibition launch

Water and Country Art Exhibition- a celebration of culture, country and connection.

The Glenelg Hopkins CMA will be hosting the Water and Country Art Exhibition on Friday 9th February at the Hamilton Institute of Rural Learning (HIRL)The exhibition aims to recognise the region’s spectacular wetlands and celebrate community connections to country.

Entries from the Aboriginal Art Competition will be showcased, accompanied by the work of some of our talented regional artists that captures the essence of our majestic landscape.

Guests will also be treated to an array of experiences on the night including:

  • Welcome to Country
  • A performance by Winda Mara dancers
  • Guest speaker Mark Olive, Indigenous Chef aka ‘The Black Olive,’ talking about bush foods
  • Music by Neil Murray, founder of the Warumpi Band and respected singer/songwriter of Indigenous inspired contemporary tunes; and
  • sampling of bush foods created by Mark Olive and hospitality students from the Hamilton District Skills Centre.

The winners of the Aboriginal Art Competition will be announced by Vicki Couzens, a Gunditjmara Keerray Woorrong woman and one of South West Victoria’s most prominent Indigenous artists.

The night will commence at 6.30 and finish at 9pm. Bookings are essential.
